Peachy goodness [Jul. 3rd, 2008|09:31 am]
[Tags|]

Dropping in soon on the farmers market downstairs to buy some peaches and saw this lovely recipe in my RSS:

http://blogs.kqed.org/bayareabites/2008/07/03/july-4th-peach-crisps-block-parties/

Block Party Peach Crisp

Serves: 10 people (or thereabouts)

Ingredients:
Filling
4 - 5 pounds of peaches or enough freshly sliced peaches to fill a 9×13” baking pan
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup flour

Topping
1 cup flour
1 cup Instant oatmeal
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 sticks butter

Preparation:

1. Slice enough peaches into 1/4 inch slices to fill a buttered 9/13” baking pan to the top
2. Mix in sugar and flour
3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, oatmeal and brown sugar.
4. Incorporate the butter until it is broken into small chunks (you can do this in a food processor, but I think it comes out better if you just squish the butter with your hands)
5. Set the topping on top of the filling in the pan, spreading evenly.
6. Bake at 350 degrees for about an hour, or until the topping is browned and you can see the peach filling bubbling inside.
7. Set aside to cool a bit and then serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Dear Yahoo--

I signed up for your personal email alias thingy 3 years ago. It never worked as advertised, so I cancelled it almost immediately. Yet every year, I have to CALL YAHOO and dispute a charge. A charge for my cancelled service.

This morning, I waited 30 min on hold...only to be transferred and placed on hold AGAIN.

I am filing a Better Business Bureau Report. I am tired of wasting my time dealing with you.

YAHOO, YOU SUCK!

Festival's Launch Party Features Performances By Persephone's Bees Plus A Short Selection of Films

SF Shorts is back! The 2007 San Francisco International Fesitval of Short Films will take place at the Victoria Theatre and the Red Vic Movie House in San Francisco from August 8 - 11. But audiences will get a chance to meet filmmakers, get a sneak peak at a few films, hear some great music and even enjoy a complimentary beer or two at the SF Shorts Launch Party on Thursday, July 12 at 8PM at the Victoria Theatre .

The party kicks off with a set by DJ Robbie Socks, followed by a selection of short films that will be feauted in this year's festival, and the evening will culminate with a performance by local favorite Persephone's Bees. Film fans and music lovers will have a chance to mingle with festival filmmakers in this relaxed and fun evening combining music and film.

About SF Shorts
SF Shorts celebrates the rebellious nature at the heart of all great film making. It's about grabbing someone by the eyeballs and making them think, feel and react. It's about what people see every day but now stare at in wonder. The festival screens a wide mix of genres to watch films rub up against each other. SF Shorts proves that entertainment can have human value. In 2006, the festival was honored to screen 60 films from around the globe and give away over $30,000 in cash and prizes. The festival returns in 2007 for four nights (August 8 - 11) at the Victoria Theatre and the Red Vic Movie House in San Francisco.
